Tuuli - Roses listen

Roses  is the jazz influenced debut of the Finnish singer/songwriter Tuuli, catching the atmosphere of the moment and pausing the listeners thoughts.

Tuulis music merges pop, jazz and folk music, while the string arrangements are reminiscent of the 70s. Tuulis unique style blends the mainly acoustic and warm sound with strong jazz solos. Against the instrumental backdrop of her piano and violin playing throughout the album, Tuulis voice gives a rich variety of nuances - soothing the ear with sensitivity and expression, yet surprising by clarity and
freshness.

Tuuli - lead vocals, piano, violin
Mika Mylläri - trumpet, piano, percussion
Ville Herrala - double bass
Ville Pynssi - drums

+ Jukka Perko - soprano and alt saxophones
+ Dean Bowman - vocals

The songs on Roses take the listener into stories of people and places that are inspired by Tuulis experiences and by those of people close to her. The title song Roses by example tells about a girl walking through a forest of roses, looking for peace of mind and for a deeper meaning of life. Tuulis romantic songs deal with letting go, with losses and with moving on, and the lyrics of longing and yearning desire entice the listener to pause and to dream.

The sound of Roses has a warm vintage touch which comes from recording it retro style on tape. Internationally established trumpeter Mika Mylläri has produced the album and brought in his personal sound. Latest news about his works: Piirpauke- album "Koli" produced by Mylläri hit the first place on the World Music Charts Europe in September- October 2010!  Amongst other projects, Mylläri is part of Northern Star People- band, together with Jonathan Gee (UK). Their first album "View From the Pocket"  was released in 2009, and it has got great reviews in the international jazz media.

The rhythm section playing on this album consists of young, yet successful musicians from the Finnish jazz scene. Roses features special guests saxophone virtuoso Jukka Perko and the New York based unique vocalist Dean Bowman.

Tuuli "Roses" is available internationally on iTunes and in Finnish shops.
